This little bird often appears as a winter icon, partnered with snow and holly, and so classically English. It was such a thrill to see them for “real”. Tonight as the fire crackles and the chill of winter descends it brought up the image and a joyful memory. Another very English featured a lot this year in craft is the fox. Again it was a thrill to see them , albeit the first encounter was in an urban setting close to London.
Last year also I made this little Winter Queen, who has headed south and must be feeling quite at home for this year snow has fallen more heavily than usual.
For some reason this post has not appeared when I tried to publish before heading south to visit family- it seems quite appropriate now as I did get to see the snow and felt the presence of Winter and all the entourage.
